Au Gratin Potatoes

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, peeled and finely sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup grated swiss cheese

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f.
  • 2 toss together potatoes and onion with butter in a 9-inch baking dish.
  • 3 cover tightly and place in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • 4 in a small pot, combine milk, pepper and salt and bring to a boil.
  • 5 remove from heat.
  • 6 pour the milk mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with cheese.
  • 7 replace in oven, uncovered, for another 20 to 25 minutes.
  • 8 if the potatoes are soft and the gratin is golden brown, it is ready to serve.
  • 9 if not, preheat broiler and broil for about 3 minutes to brown top before serving.
