Comfortable Yams

Ingredients

- 96 ounces cut yams in syrup
- 1/2 cup butter (not margarine, it's a disaster)
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 fluid ounce southern comfort
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon mace
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup ginger ale (i prefer vernor's, but any good ginger ale or ginger beer will do)
- 1 (16 ounce) bag mini marshmallows
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 coat 1 deep casserole dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
- 3 combine southern comfort, vanilla, brown sugar and spices until well blended and sugar is dissolved.
- 4 drain yams and pour into casserole dish.
- 5 cut butter into small cubes and distribute among the yams.
- 6 pour spice mixture over yams and toss to coat evenly.
- 7 bake until bubbly, about 30 mins, remove from oven.
- 8 add enough mini-marshmallows to cover yams and place under broiler until golden brown.
- 9 allow to cool 10 minutes before serving.
